An Open Challenge to John Ashcroft

Arrest me, you horrible bastard

I am a christian

I am a hindu

I am a muslim

I am a jew

I am a buddhist

And also a taoist

And I love my fellow bible thumper

And I too love my fellow islamic fundamentalist

And all those like me who call themselves Atheists

And Mr. Ashcroft, despite my initial slur

I love you too

So therefore I would imagine

That I am a threat to your version of security

Predicated on the proliferation of panic

Making us all lose sleep and turn manic

But I’ll just lie down tonight

And remind myself that I love all people

And your treacherous tonic of hatred

Will leave my mind

And my sleep will be sublime

Until you take my challenge

And arrest me

For not believing in your simplistic, stupid, moronic version of faith
