The Champion of Sindh

All peoples have legends

Foretold by their scripture

Various styles embodied

Various patterns for worth

And Survival

The people of Sindh need

Such a person

Such a myth

To stir the powers

Of the human will

To defend their diffuse flock

To make a home

Out of a holy piece of land

Linked in nuanced

And genetic

Fashion

Making us common

To each other

In ways inexplicable

Save for the calming smile

Of my countrymen and women

And all we peaceably trade with

Get fat with

And die together

In harmony

Not bitterness

With the Champion’s sword

Sheathed and unbloodied
