Vedic Sonnet

Noble cattle doing nothing, strolling

People driving motorcycles hapless

To their bovine cousins’ peace; worshipping

Instead something of total worthlessness

Rupees and thupees are their days’ pursuit

They ignore the fruits of enlightenment

To be learned if the cattle they salute

They dream only for their entertainment

The cow married allah in paradise

Through a device called understanding now

Paradise has not a concern for vice

For finding peace it asks not why, but how

The march of capital continues on

Despite the protests of the gods above
